If you're planning a session with me and dreaming of a timeless, editorial backdrop, Princeton University is one of my favorite places in New Jersey to shoot. The Gothic architecture, ivy-covered stone, and quiet courtyards give every gallery a sense of history and romance that's hard to find anywhere else. Whether you're celebrating a graduation, an engagement, or simply want a family session that feels a little more elevated, here are a few of my go-to spots on campus.
Rockefeller College is known for its stunning cloisters and intricate stonework, and it photographs beautifully in almost any light. Holder Courtyard is a quieter option nestled among Gothic buildings and manicured greenery, perfect if you want a more peaceful, intimate setting. For graduates, Nassau Hall's ivy-covered walls and historic doorways create a warm, classic backdrop, while Blair Arch and Rothschild Arch offer some of the most iconic Gothic architecture on campus for couples and families who want that grand, timeless feel.
If we have a bit more time, we can also make our way to the Stone Courtyard & Balustrade, Holder Courtyard Steps, and Clio Hall's towering limestone columns for a more editorial, sophisticated look.
A few planning tips: golden hour, about an hour before sunset, gives the most flattering light, but morning sessions are lovely too if you're hoping for smaller crowds and cooler temperatures. Most sessions begin near University Place, and depending on your session length, we can visit several locations in one visit. I'll always send exact meeting details, parking recommendations, and a game plan before your session so the day feels easy from start to finish.
